  In Kenneth's presentation he introduced Web Services and put it in relation to other technologies, like the XML B2B standards that are probably already familiar to the XMLOne audience. Both technical and business aspects was covered, such as the key components of Web Services (SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, etc.), the Web Services model (describe, publish, discover, invoke), how to expose business functionality as a Web Service, and business scenarios of possible Web Services usages. The questions on when, how, and why to use Web Services was answered. Finally, a reality check and look at the Web Services phases and maturity, together with some actual implementations in the industry.

Biodata of the Speaker

Kenneth Andersson is currently a member of the Java Smart Services Laboratory, a joint programme between SIMTech, Sun and IDA, with the objective to accelerate Web Services adoption in Singapore. Prior to joining SIMTech one year ago, Kenneth was at Corus Technologies in Sweden, where he developed strategies for incorporating the emerging XML B2B standards into their business integration tool. He has also worked at Saab Automobile and seen the extremes of pull-based lean manufacturing. He got his Master of Science degree within Systems and Business Development from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
