Easier Communication Over the Internet
Successful companies have to exploit the Internet and
other information technology to be able to compete in
this new economy. Data exchange is very important in E-business.
For data exchange to take place, the data have to be separated
from the processes. A standard such as XML enables wider
interoperability among business partners.
This begin with an introduction of the basic of XML. It
progresses to focus on the adoption of XML for data exchanges
and its business benefits in the manufacturing sector.
A case study of how an Internet Procurement Hub is implemented
to demonstrate how we can use XML for data exchange with
business partners. This talk also example how standard
like XIP (XML Industrial Project initiated by ITSC) was
used in the project.

What and why ...
The purpose of this Special Interest Group, SIG, is to provide a forum
for companies and individual to meet and discuss about technical issues
and other related subject regarding XML and its application.
The SIG main role is to facilitate activities such as meeting, forum,
seminars and match-make solutions providers to users. These activities
aim at promoting and providing information that will assists members
in embarking on their projects.
Target Audience
Companies who are planning to implement E-Business projects as well
as solutions vendors who can help these companies to implement their
solutions are invited to join this SIG.
Business and IT managers from these companies who are responsible
for E-Business projects need to attend.
About the Organizer
XMLOne is a non-profit organization supported by the technology companies,
government board, developers and professionals from the business Community.
XMLOne is the official event organizer for XMLASIA.
Being the first XML User Group in the Asia Pacific region, it will
help to facilitate the exchange of information, news, training, organize
seminars and special interest groups. It will also encourage the various
efforts underway to make use of XML as key means in general-purpose
e-business.
Speaker's Profile
Andy Tan is the founder of Intrinix Networks. Intrinix Networks provides
E-business application development services. He has over 19 years
experience in software development and has successfully implemented
many projects over the years. Some of the projects implemented are
Sanyo Asia Internet Procurement Hub, Volex Asia Procurement Hub and
Sooner Technology Component Exchange Portal. He has been focusing
on Internet related software development since 1997.
Andy is actively involved in promoting the use of XML for data exchange.
He is vice-chairman of the XML One User Group executive committee.
He is also a member of ITSC-XML Working Group focusing on promoting
XML in Singapore.
Andy has presented in several seminars on XML applications and Supply
Chain Management conducted by SIMTech, ITSC and PSB as well as paper
in the ITSC's Synthesis Journal 2001. He is a regular writer for Singapore
Institute of Management's publication Today's' Manager. He received
