XMLOne -- Asia leading XML User Group

Singapore, 20 Aug, 2004: National Infocomm Competency Centre (NICC) in partnership with XMLOne User Group launched the Certified Web Services Professional (CWSP) at PACE 2004. It is an annual industry event for training and certification organized by NICC.

The CWSP is part of the Web Services Skills Certification Framework launched at XMLAsia 2003 held on 10 September 2003. The Framework is developed jointly by IDA, NICC, SiTF and XMLOne User Group. It aims to develop Infocomm professionals and re-skill them with Web Services competencies by meeting the career and skills-progression needs of Web Services talent at all levels, ranging from Developers, Specialists, Architects to Consultants.

CWSP consists of 2 tiers of evaluations:

Stage 1: CWSP Examination
Stage 2: CWSP Portfolio Evaluation

Successful candidates will be awarded CWSP certificates issued by NICC and XMLOne. Candidates who passed the CWSP Examination will be awarded the CWSP(Associates) and when they passed their Portfolio Evaluation, they will be awarded the full CWSP certificates.

The CWSP Examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and the duration of the assessment is 1.5 hours. A minimal 75% of the total score is needed to pass the Examination.

The Portfolio Evaluation is aim at accessing the candidate's competency in all the domains published in CWSP Body of Knowledge (Level 1 and 2). Candidate shall assemble a Portfolio of evidence as support for demonstrating the competency through the tasks taken.

Candidates are assessed for competencies based on the following area:

Web Services Technologies and Standards
Analysis and Design of Web Services Solutions
Development and Implementation of Web Services Solutions
Interoperability for Web Services Solutions
Security for Web Services Solutions
