TECHNICAL TRACK

SOAP Message-based Security:

One of the three key pillars of critical importance in the adoption of SOAP messaging-based services in an enterprise is security. In fact, the security aspect of standards-based messaging system has been singled out by worldwide CXOs as the most inhibiting factor in the mainstream-wide adoption within an enterprise. The ratification of WS-Security 1.0 by OASIS on 6 April 2004 has gone into great lengths to change that perception. William will show how and what you can do to secure your SOAP messaging-based services today. You will also learn how the same standards-based WS-Security Specifications can be used to secure the next generation of distributed web services with Indigo.

Building Robust Web Services Application - OASIS FWSI Functional Element Specification

An in-depth explanation of the key functions and features of Functional Elements defined by the OASIS Framework for Web Services Implementation Technical Committee formed in 2003 and chaired by the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology under A-Star and IDA. Functional Elements represent the common reusable functionalities for Web Services enabled implementation, allowing for the utilisation of reusable components.

Interoperability Challenges of Web Services Security Standards - WS-Security, SAML

This topic looks at ways of overcoming security issues in Web Services implementation and interoperability challenges faced by application developers. Two important Security Standards will be discussed during this session: WS-Security and SAML.

ebXML, new e-Business Standards enable global Trading

Gain insight into xbXML from a top-level perspective and why it is an important standard for companies to consider. This session provides an update on the latest developments and discusses the challenges facing its implementation as well as the ways to overcome them.

Designed with business objectives in mind, the vision of ebXML is to create a single global electronic marketplace where enterprises of any size and in any geographical location can conduct business with each other through the exchange of XML based messages.

ebXML is created for electronic interoperability, allowing businesses to find each other, agree to become trading partners and to conduct business. All these operations can be performed automatically, minimising human intervention. Streamlining electronic business also offers lower costs to open and standard mechanisms.

The session will explore some of the practical implementation and usage issues, and show how business users could take advantage of UBL.

BUSINESS TRACK

Maximising Web Services ROI with Web Services Management

Businesses are often concerned with Return on Investment (ROI) when investing in technological advancement. Web Services users can choose to either use Web Services as Utilities or on a “pay-as-you-use” concept. The ability to monitor the invocation of Web Services is crucial to security and performance. Also, a security framework should incorporate an authentication and authorisation mechanism together with an audit trail. The speaker will share insights on the surrounding issues when implementing such a solution.

Driving Business Agility with SOA

Service Oriented Architecture is an important software implementation concept that is useful for businesses applications. The speaker will discuss how Web Services can be used to implement SOA and also highlight the necessary infrastructure needed to implement the solution.

From XML to Web Services

The key to success in a Business-to-Business integration lies in successful process integration amongst key business partners. It is imperative for organisations to review their business process and computerise as many processes as is possible. It is also important to consider the capabilities of the automatic exchange of business information by business software. Learn how XML and Web Services can help to enhance business information exchange and the benefits of adopting XML and Web Services within organisations.

The guiding principles of Service-Orientation and the impending steps needed to embrace this architectural idea and philosophy will also be explored.
